Shihan Dan Fife began training in Koei-Kan Karate Do in 1990 under the guidance of Shihan Sensei Jeffery Mason at the Academy of Koei-Kan Karate in Utica, Michigan. Shihan Fife currently holds the rank of Godan (5th Degree Black Belt). Shihan Fife came to Koei-Kan from an athletic background that included football and wrestling, looking to pursue a lifelong ambition of studying the martial arts. He has competed a number of years in the Annual Koei-Kan International Tournament having placed in kata, kumite and bogu (full-contract) and has won the Frost Cup on two separate occasions, while remaining undefeated in the full-contract completion. Shihan Fife is a founding member of the Shelby Dojo.
